Applying to Fort Valley State University

Please note that the undergraduate application fee has been waived for all applicants. Select the "Fee Waiver" button as the payment option to apply for free. Please check your personal email provided on the application.

If you were previously enrolled at FVSU, please do not complete a new admission application. You should complete a Readmission Application through the FVSU Registrar's office and pay the $20 Readmission fee.

Admission Application Deadlines

The FVSU application and all supporting documentation must be received in the Office of Recruitment and Admissions by the stated deadlines below:

Fall semester - December 15 (priority deadline for scholarship applicants); June 15 (final deadline)
Spring semester - November 1
Summer semester - May 1

International Applicants

International applicants have additional requirements for admission. This may include submitting a comprehensive credential evaluation through the NACES approved organization and meeting the English Language Proficiency requirement by submitting SAT/TOEFL/IELTS/ACT scores.

Financial Aid

Verification of Lawful Presence

In accordance with Board of Regents Policy 4.3.4,all applicants who are accepted for admission or readmission to Fort Valley State University and who seek to be classified as in-state for tuition purposes will be required to provide validation of residency and lawful presence in both the State of Georgia and the United States. Acceptance to Fort Valley State University may be delayed until lawful presence is verified.

The U.S. Department of Education will validate the lawful presence of any student who completes the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA); therefore, if you are applying for federal financial aid, it will not be necessary for Fort Valley State University to perform additional verification of your residency status. Otherwise, you will be required to submit one of the following documents to the Office of Recruitment and Admissions

  • Certified U.S. Birth Certificate (no photocopies)
  • Consular Report of Birth Abroad (FS-240)
  • Current U.S. Passport
  • Georgia Driver's License (issued after 1/1/2008)
  • Georgia I.D. Card (issued after 1/1/2008)
  • U.S. Certificate of Birth Abroad issue by the Department of State (DS-1350)
  • U.S. Certificate of Citizenship (USCIS Form N-560 or N-561)
  • U.S. Certificate of Naturalization (USCIS Form N-550 or N-570)
