Admissions Process

  1. From the "apply now" tab, you will be directed to the GaFutures website.  If you have not created an account previously for another University System of Georgia school, you will need to create a new account to apply to CSU. 
  2. Complete the online application for admission.  
  3. Be sure to answer all items on the online application to assist in determining both your admission and residency status.
  4. After you are finished, click the SUBMIT button located in the left column of the application (or at the end of the application) and follow the directions.
  5. There is a non-refundable application fee of $40 (American Express, Discover, MasterCard, or Visa).  

After applying please submit the following documents:

Traditional Freshman Applicants

(Graduated from an accredited high school within the past 5 years)

  • Official High School Transcript
  • SAT or ACT Scores
SAT/ACT test score requirements are waived for freshmen with a 3.0 or higher in their Required High School Curriculum through Summer 2026.

Traditional Transfer Applicants

(Graduated from an accredited high school within the past 5 years and have 30 or more transferable hours)

  • Official transcripts from all colleges or universities attended (Applicants with less than 30 semester hours of transferable hours must also submit traditional freshman applicants documents)

Non-Traditional Freshman Applicants

(Graduated from an accredited high school 5 years or more, with no prior college experience)

  • Official High School Transcript or GED

Non-Traditional Transfer Applicant

(Graduated from an accredited high school 5 years or more, with 30 or more transferable hours)

  • Official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended.  (Applicants with less than 30 semesters of transferable hours must also submit traditional freshman applicants documents)

Transient Applicants

  • Transient Permission Letter

Dual Enrollment / Joint Enrollment Applicants

  • Official High School Transcript



Priority Admission Application Deadlines

Spring Semester - November 30
Summer Term - April 30
Fall Semester - June 30

Lawful Presence Verification

In accordance with Board of Regents Policy 4.3.4, all applicants who are accepted for admission or readmission to Columbus State University and who seek to be classified as in-state for tuition purposes will be required to provide validation of residency and lawful presence in both the State of Georgia and the United States. One of the following documents is acceptable for verification of Lawful Presence:

  • A photocopied image or photo of a current Driver's License issued after January 1, 2008. Only the Driver's License from these states is acceptable:
    • Alabama, Alaska, California, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Iowa, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Missouri, Montana, Nevada, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Vermont, Wisconsin
    • A limited-term license--a license issued for a period of less than two years--is not acceptable.
  • A current ID issued by the State of Georgia after January 1, 2008.
  • A current U.S. Passport.
  • A Certified U.S. Birth Certificate showing the student was born in the U.S. or a U.S. territory. A photocopy or faxed copy provided by the student is not acceptable.
  • U.S. Certificate of Naturalization (USCIS form N - 550 or N - 570).
  • U.S. Certificate of Citizenship (USCIS form N - 560 or N - 561).
  • U.S. Certificate of Birth Abroad issued by the Department of State (DS - 1350) or a Consular Report of Birth Abroad (FS - 240).
  • A current, valid Permanent Resident Card (USCIS form I-151 or I-551).
