General Deadlines

Please note that Albany State University recognizes a priority consideration deadline for admission. Students wishing to be fully considered for admission should submit all application materials by the priority consideration deadline dates below to receive full consideration for admission for their desired term of entry. Students that apply after the priority consideration deadline will be considered for admission, but will not be guaranteed acceptance to the university.

USA Students

  • Fall semester July 15
  • Spring semester November 1
  • Summer semester April 1

International Students

  • Fall semester May 1
  • Spring semester October 1
  • Summer semester March 1

  2. Follow the instructions carefully and click on the 'Begin Application for Albany State University' button found below.
  3. The application fee is $25.

Steps for Albany State University Admission Process

  1. Complete and submit this online application.
  2. You must have a Social Security number to apply for admission. Social Security numbers are used within the university only and are not given to third parties without consent.
  3. Please submit all supporting documents before a decision is rendered.

For Access Pathway to Certificate, Associate's and/or Bachelor's Degree Requirments

Minimum SAT/ACT scores and Freshmen Index are not required for those applying to the Associate Pathway at Albany State University.  Applicants are screened for Learning Support placement by taking the ACCUPLACER Exam as part of the admission process.  A minimum 2.0 High School GPA is required.

For Transfer Students and Students Seeking a Second Degree

  1. Submit official transcripts from all previously attended colleges, regardless of the length of attendance or amount of credit earned, send an official transcript to ASU's Office of Admissions.
  2. If you have earned fewer than 30 transferable college credit hours, then student(s) must meet freshman requirements.
  3. All transfer students must meet minimum cumulative grade point average of a 2.0.

For Transient Students

  1. Permission to take courses: Submit a letter of approval from the dean or registrar of the institution where you are a resident listing the courses you should take while enrolled at Albany State University.

For Dual Enroll and Move On When Ready

  1. Submit official high school transcripts to the Office of Admissions.
  2. A minimum grade point average of 3.0.
  3. Combined Critical Reading/Math SAT score of 970 OR ACT minimum English score of 17, Math 17 and a composite score of 20.

For International Students

  1. Submit your official academic transcripts from all U.S. high schools or colleges/universities that you have attended or are attending.
  2. If you are not a college transfer student with at least 30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours that can be accepted as credit at ASU, request that your official SAT/ACT scores be sent to the Office of Admissions.
  3. Submit official Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or International English Language Testing System (IELTS) scores.
  4. Complete and submit the Certificate of Finances Form to the Office of Admissions.

General Information

Legal Residency

  1. To qualify as a legal resident of Georgia, the applicant, if over 18 years of age, must have lived in Georgia for at least one year prior to the registration date.If the applicant is under 18 years of age, his/her parents or legal guardian must have physically resided in Georgia for at least one year (12 months) preceding the registration date.
  2. Please note that this brief explanation of the residency regulation does not encompass all the rules on residency. If the applicant is in doubt about his/her legal residence status, he/she should consult the general catalog for the "legal resident" rules and regulations of the Board of Regents for the University System of Georgia, or contact the ASU Registrar's Office at (229) 430-4638.
